Ice Rescue training

Last week, members from Kensington Fire set out for our annual cold water rescue training at Paper Goods Pond.

This training is refreshed every year in the winter so our members are ready to respond if needed to the multiple bodies of water throughout town.  We also apply many of the same techniques to general water rescue, which could occur at any time of the year, including the warm summer months.

Our training includes getting into and out of the [yellow] cold water suits, setup and understanding of all equipment, addressing safety concerns for members on land and in the water, and different techniques for getting to and removing victims from the water.
